CHI: On the Health of Worcester County

Center for Health Impact Executive Director, Joanne Calista, was recently interviewed for a Worcester Telegram and Gazette article about Worcester County health ranking. The March 30th article, County among least healthy in state, reported on relatively poor health indicators in Worcester county as compared to Massachusetts as a whole, according to new rankings released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute in their eighth annual ‘County Health Rankings’ report.

Ms. Calista stated that “We have many services available in our communities, but we need more, and we need more in a wider range of settings.” She cautioned, however, that rankings shouldn’t always be taken at face value and that “the tremendous assets we have in this community” must also be valued.
