As the essential role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in service delivery and health promotion becomes widely known, your agency may be considering expanding or developing outreach programs utilizing CHWs. CHW staff of any experience level will benefit from basic and/or specialized training in various competencies.
Health centers and community based agencies’ training needs can vary widely depending on specific duties of CHW staff, specific focus areas of staff, time constraints, and existing on-the-job training. Trainings are an important professional development opportunity for CHWs, supporting their confidence, clarity of their role, and professional capacity to work with patients/clients.
We offer custom-designed training courses for:
Community Health Workers as generalists
Patient Navigators/CHWs as specialists in chronic disease management
Supervisors of Community Health Workers/Patient Navigators
Our available services include curriculum design, materials development, and consulting. The Outreach Worker Training Institute (OWTI) can offer the expertise of a wide network of dynamic faculty to implement your customized training.
Customized training courses may cover core and health specific competencies or variation of competencies. We tailor courses to the needs of our customers: agencies who employ CHWs and who fund their training.
We welcome new partnerships and we encourage proposals for collaborative and negotiable projects.
