Special Education Team Meetings: How an IEP Is Developed

This 3-hour workshop focuses on a review of the most relevant information, historical-based, technical terms, vocabulary and team due process in the special education field, adapted especially for interpreters that provide services during initial meetings, annual reviews, reconvenes and mandatory three-year reevaluations. This workshop includes a full revision of the components of the IEP or Individual Education Plan.  Participants will become familiar with the principles behind of the special education laws. Next, the participants will work on applying this knowledge through exercises and guided work through real cases. Finally, we will discuss typical challenges for interpreters and special issues that may arise during special education sessions.

Accreditation/Approval Information:
This workshop has been approved for 3-credits through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI).
